Mandatory Documents Required to Apply for an Education Loan

If you visit a bank to ask questions on an Education loan, the bank managers will explain that these are the essentials required to process a loan for education in U.S.

S.NO Documents Required
1 I-20
2 Two Color Photographs
3 Copy of Sale DD of Mortgaging Property
4 Property Link Document (For 30 Years)
5 Property Tax Receipts
6 Property Approval Plan from Muncipality
7 Property Layout
8 Residential Proof (Could be any utility bills)
9 Copies of All Your Academic Certificates

I know getting an education loan in India is complicated. I understood we need to work more to get a bank loan than scoring a good GRE score. It took almost two and half months to get my U.S education loan approval. You will get to experience how Indian government offices work (especially Revenue offices), how bribe plays a vital role etc. There comes a smile on my face, when I remember that the customers to my loan sanctioned bank thought that I was an employee at bank, as I almost spent most of the time for two and half months at bank.

5 Replies you never want to hear from applied schools

Look at a simple story. You will infer and understand from a student miserable experience, what universities really look while giving admission to students.
Here is the END of all my admission rejections with the end of dream of going to USA .
Oregon State University > Direct rejection even after sending full documents to make the decision.
NCSU                             > Due to some fault they didn't receive one of my recommendation letters though my professor sent twice. When I asked for a reason, the answer was like "Sorry we had filled our seats".
Suny, Buffalo                  > "You are not so competitive"( May be insufficient extra-curricular activities
Syracuse                        > Though they received my TOEFL score, due to some sort of confusion they didn't mention in application. When I called them, they apologized for confusion and asked one week for decision. After one week they rejected my application.
UIC                                > One of the credentials missing was my original degree which I didn't get at the time of sending application. I sent the packet on 12th may but they mentioned the deadline was 8th may. Reply is again, "Sorry for the denial". That was my experience with USA.
If you don't want to hear these kind of replies from your favorite schools, you better apply them early, better tailor your resume and statement of purpose(SOP), better keep your regular follow up with schools. Is this ever happened to you? Share it with us.

100 Most likely asked Visa Interview Questions

Thanks to Varun Shah for writing this post.

1. Why this university?
Ans. Explain the strong points of the univeristy

2. Why do you plan to do MS? Why MS in CS ?
Ans. Having worked for 2 years in an IT company I learnt a lot about software development and I have a good know-how of Computer Science and Software Engineering, but a bit more technical knowledge and research in the field will serve greatly when I come back here and join the company of my choice. Higher qualifications give a better place, a better standard in today's competitive world. I have seen that there is a dearth of persons with greater technical know-how in this field, and whosoever has it will be benefited highly. So I wish to complete my MS and strengthen my knowledge and grasp the opportunity.

3. Why do you wish to study in the US ?
Ans. U.S grad Schools are a way ahead in research in fields like Computer science and Software Engineering when compared to other countries of the world. They emphasize practical knowledge just book learning. A degree from US is globally recognized as the academic standards reputed. USA is the mecca of education.

4. Why Don't you study in India ? (This is the same question as the second but you can answer it in a different way. If 3rd question is asked, stress the strong points of US schools. In both the cases you have to show the positive points of US Universities over Indian universities)
Ans. Masters Education in India lays more emphasis on the theory than practical knowledge, Hence a Masters degree from India does not really help in fulfilling the career goals of a person like me. Indian Universities do not have enough facilities to support students in their research, whereas US Universities have sound infrastructure to support students to gain both the theoretical as well as practical knowledge. Moreover, the courses in India are not flexible as in US.

I became a Sun certified Java Programmer during my 3rd year. The additional interest that I had for Computer Science also made me take up a job as a Software Engineer. Once you done with uploading your photo, you will need to review all the entered. You MUST save the application before doing that which could be done as saving file on your computer. This helps you if anything goes wrong. Go through the complete application again check all details clearly. I would suggest get it checked by someone else too.

After you done with reviewing your application you will need to digitally sign the application form(its like typing in your Passport number and other minor details). Once if you submit it, you cannot make any changes in your application. Once you submit your application you will see a token like slip (DS 160 Confirmation) with your photograph and some details and a barcode on the right. In big bold capital red letters it would be written in the bottom"This is not a VISA"This token is what we need to print the token(DS 160 Confirmation) and print the complete application as well for your reference. Try to get atleast  3 copies of both and it is suggested to save it as well for use in case.
